Abstract

1,159,619. Mounting vehicle batteries. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 12 April, 1967, No. 16786/67. Heading B7H. In a motor vehicle driven by an electric motor or motors supplied with power from a battery or batteries 1 or a fuel cell or fuel cells, the power source is carried in a compartment 7 from which it can be removed only when a passenger door 10 is open. The compartment is closed by a vertical panel 8 which is removable only when screws in the bottom of the door frame 9 have been removed the screw heads being covered by the base 10a of the door when it is closed, when the skirt 11 of the door covers the panel 8. The power source on each side of the vehicle is carried in a tray 4 which is supported by flanges 5 of adjacent parallel outriggers 3 from a backbone frame of the vehicle and is located below the stepped floor 6 of the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
