A non-linear function generator comprises amplifier 3 receiving signal from potentiometer 6 energized by input e in to energize a grounded series circuit of resistor Rf, variable resistor R 1 , and a non-linear element comprising diode 13. The junction of Rf, R 1 is connected to feedback input 11 together with a variable diode bias EB of either polarity over series resistor R 2 . The diode circuit may comprise plural linear and non-linear elements, and the diode characteristics are adjustably variable by R 1 and bias source EB while the operation range is varied by potentiometer 6. The diode may be a backward or in tunnel diode. The device may generate e.g. sinusoidal, logarithmic, or exponential functions.
