Abstract
1,158,875. 3,4-Dihaloanilines. UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO. 2 Dec.. 1966 [3 Dec.. 1965], No. 54080/66. Heading C2C. 3,4-Dihaloanilines are prepared by reacting an o-nitrohalobenzene with a molecular halogen at 150-350‹ C., separating the resulting odihalobenzene and nitrogen oxide, nitrating the dihalobenzene, reducing the resulting 3,4-dihalonitrobenzene to form a dihaloaniline product containing a 3,4-dihaloaniline and recovering the 3,4-dihaloaniline. An example is given of the production of 3,4-dichloroaniline but the process is stated to be applicable to the production of 3,4-dibromoaniline, 3-chloro- 4-bromoaniline, 3-bromo-4-chloroaniline, 3,4- diiodoaniline and 3,4-difluoroaniline.
