Abstract

1,158,608. Bolt fastenings. TURNERS ASBESTOS CEMENT CO. Ltd. 26 Feb., 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 10710/67. Heading E2A. A clip for fixing a wall or ceiling panel 3 to a member of a supporting framework comprises a sheet metal channel 1 having a fixing for attaching its base to the face of the panel with its sides which are inwardly bent towards each other, extending away from the panel face, and slide bolt 10 which is held between the sides of the channel so that it can move between a position in which it is retracted within the channel and a position in which one end portion of it projects from the channel, the bolt being a metal plate and having a spring tongue 11 punched out of it at its projectable end portion, the tongue being bent towards the base of the channel from the part of the plate from which it is punched, so that it can press resiliently against the member of the supporting framework, to fix the panel to the member when the bolt is in its projecting position. As shown the fixing for attaching the base of the channel to the panel is a pair of tongues 7 which in use project into holes in the panel. The bolt is provided with a lug 18 by which it can be moved when access to the face of the panel on which the clip is mounted is possible but when access is not possible a crank 19 is provided which has an upwardly projecting tip 20 which engages an L shaped slot 16 in the bolt; the crank has a boss 21 which enters a hole 9 in the channel, the boss acting as a pivot and the boss has a slot which is engageable by a screw driver through a hole in the panel underneath the boss; rotation of the crank by the screw driver moves the bolt.
