Abstract

1,153,170. Anchoring nuts. VARE CORP. 30 Aug., 1967. No. 39615/67. Heading F2H [Also in Division E2] A one-piece spring sheet metal fastener comprises a lower arm portion 11 connected by spring strips 13 to a parallel plate 15 between which plate 15 and the lower arm portion 11 an apertured supporting panel of various thicknesses is gripped. The plate 15 depends from an inclined panel 14 integral with the spring strips 13 which extend from a connecting portion 12 integral with the lower arm portion. The plate 15 has a split protuberance with a central aperture with a helical edge portion for engaging a screw which passes through holes in the lower arm portion 11 and in the supporting panel for securely holding panels of various thicknesses in engagement with the parallel surfaces of the plate 15 and the lower arm portion 11. A finger 18 projecting from the base of the protuberance snap engages the aperture in the supporting panel to hold the panel in correct screw-engaging position with the end against and down-turned lip 16<SP>1</SP> of the plate 15.
