Abstract

1,158,197. Facade plate. B. I. EKBERG A.B. 11 Aug., 1967 [16 Aug., 1966], No. 36948/67. Headings B6G. [Also in Division B5] A facade plate comprises a mineral-filled unsaturated polyester resin, and a layer of mineral bodies embedded only in part in the surface layer of the polyester resin and anchored therein. The plate may have two parallel longitudinal edges one of which has an overlying flange and the other an underlying flange whereby several facade plates are capable of being joined in overlapping relation by means of a joint sealing compound. The underneath side of the plate may have a plurality of parallel ridges with flat top surfaces adapted to lie in surface-contact to a wall to form air circulation passages. The mineral bodies may be stone such as marble, granite, gneiss, porphyry, lime stone. The facade plate may be reinforced with wire netting e.g. iron wire netting say copper-plated. In one embodiment, a solution of an unsaturated polyester in styrene and containing marble powder is poured into a mould and before setting poured over with finely crushed marble bodies.
