Abstract

A pneumo-mechanical converter comprises a power element 2 mounted in a housing 1, a movable support 4 mounted on the power element carrying a sensing element 5, such as a pressureresponsive capsule, and a nozzle 6 of an amplifier, and a second movable support 14 connected with a feedback spring 15 and the element 5 and acting as a shutter of the amplifier nozzle. When the pressure in a channel 13 is increased the capsule 5 expands and the shutter moves closer to the nozzle to throttle the flow of fluid through channels 7, 10. The increase in pressure in chamber 8 raises the element 2 and compresses the feedback spring 15 until equilibrium is restored. A rod 21 rigidly or pivotally connected with the support 4 transmits the movement to an indicating or recording instrument. Bellows may replace the diaphragm 2 and the element 5 and a ball be inserted between the nozzle and shutter to avoid misalignment.
