In a binary-coded-decimal to decimal converter, a single binary to decimal decoding matrix receives on four inputs the contents of binary stages weighted 8, 4, 2, 1 respectively of a circulating shift register. A binary-coded-decimal number is supplied, serial or parallel by bit, from a computer to a circulating shift register which is then shifted to present each decimal digit in turn, parallel by bit, to a diode matrix connected to a single decimal digit section of the register. The matrix converts each decimal digit to 7-bit form which is gated, under control of counters fed with the shift pulses, to a number display (7 light bars from which any decimal digit can be built up) respective to the decimal order in question. The matrix may alternatively present a 1-out-of-10 output.
