Abstract

1,157,400. Fertilizers. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 2 May, 1968, No. 20814/68. Heading C1B. A fertilizer composition comprises urea, 3-25% of a solid hydrocarbon binder, and 0À01-10% of a urea decomposition inhibitor (the percentages being based on the wax). The inhibitor is sodium or potassium borate, sodium or potassium fluoride, or a soluble salt of copper, molybdenum, cobalt, zinc, manganese, silver, lead, or mercury. The binder may comprise microcrystalline wax, asphalt, petroleum resin, polyethylene, polypropylene, or polyvinyl resin. The composition may also contain chalk, limestone, lime, gypsum, clay, or phosphate rock. The binder may be incorporated in the molten state or dissolved in a volatile solvent. The composition may be formed into agglomerates, pellets, or prills.
