Abstract

1,156,467. Making lamp-posts. GENERAL ELECTRIC & ENGLISH ELECTRIC COMPANIES Ltd. 16 Feb., 1968 [2 March, 1967], No. 10020/67. Heading B3A. [Also in Division E1] A tubular high tensile steel lamp carrying shaft 7 is secured to a mild steel base 1 by welding a mild steel sleeve 6 to an apertured plate 5, the plate being welded to the base. The sleeve 6 is shrunk on to the shaft in such a position that the lower end 9 of the shaft seats in a plate 8, to which it may be welded when the sleeve is in the aperture. The base has a base-plate 1 which has a series of bolt holes around its periphery. An aperture 10 is closed by a door 13. Reinforcing bars 4 are welded to the inner surface of the base at either side of the aperture. The column should be galvanized or otherwise protected against weathering.
