Abstract

1,156,161. Mops. W. HESENER. 26 July, 1966 [31 July, 1965; 26 June, 1966; 18 July, 1966], No. 33500/66. Heading A4F. In a combination handle and core member for a washing-up mop having a sponge carried by the core member, the core member 87 has two parallel or converging major surfaces each having pointed projections 87b, and is adapted to be inserted into a slot in the sponge with the said major surfaces each facing towards one of two opposed working faces of the sponge, the projections 87b being shaped so that they can project into the sponge and retain it in position on the core member. To facilitate entry of the core member 87 into the sponge the slot 88a may contain cardboard or plastics sheets 89 having a weak connection 89a, which is broken when the sheets are withdrawn after insertion of the core member. Other embodiments are described in which the core member is pivotally connected to the handle.
