Abstract

1,156,145. Clothes airers. B. J. S. BELCHER. 29 Nov., 1966 [29 Nov., 1965], No. 50608/65. Heading A4U. [Also in Divisions D1 and E2] In a clothes airer, which is foldable upwards against a wall, the ends of nylon cords 9 are secured to a metal frame 1 by deformable plugs 10 passed through holes 11 in tubular parts of the frame and having a shoulder 13 preventing withdrawal. The cord is knotted at 16 after passing through the plug which has a reduced neck 14 of smaller diameter than the hole, and a flange 15 to cover the hole. In modifications the cord is bonded, e.g. by fusion, in the plug which is an interference fit in the hole, the shoulder being formed by constriction of the plug by the edge of the hole, a single cord, passing back and forth across the frame, is secured to the frame intermediate its ends by threading through apertures or hooks, or opposite end members of the frame have an intermediate hinge.
