Abstract

1,156,074. Reactive phthalocyanine dyes. CIBA Ltd. 13 Oct., 1967 [13 Oct., 1966], No. 46800/67. Heading C4P. The invention comprises dyes of the general formula wherein Q is a phthalocyanine, residue, n is 1 or 2, R is a benzene ring containing an -SO 2 -NH- bridging group ortho to the azo link, X is a fibre reactive residue (i.e. groups which react with OH of cellulose to form a covalent (bond) and D is a diazo component residue. The phthalocyanine nucleus may be metal free or contain copper, cobalt or nickel and may contain at least one sulphonic acid group and further sulphonamido groups. Diazo component residue D is preferably of the benzene or naphthalene series and may also contain a fibre reactive group. The fibre reactive residue X may be a triazine, pyrimidine, quinoxaline or pyridazine carbonylic acid chloride, α-#-dihalopropionyl residue &c. They are prepared by (1) acylation of a free NH 2 group to introduce the X residue or (2) reacting a phthalocyanine sulphochloride with an amino mono-azo compound. The dyes dye cotton, linen, wool, silk and polyamides in green shades.
