Abstract
1,155,411. Weighing apparatus. UNIVERSAL ASBESTOS MFG. CO. Ltd. June 17, 1966 [June 17, 1965], No.25726/65. Heading G1W. Apparatus for automatically weighing out two materials in a predetermined weight ratio comprises two rotatable weighing receptacles (one for each material) which after being supplied with predetermined weights of the materials are rotated to discharge their contents simultaneously, the receptacles being so arranged that the materials are discharged towards each other from the receptacles and mix to form a common stream. As shown, three weighing receptcales 1, 28, 41 for automatically weighing out three materials in a predetermined weight ratio are supported on steelyards connected to weight indicators 27, 32, 51 provided with photo-electric devices, the photoelectric devices being connected in circuits which are arranged to cut-off feed of the materials when predetermined weights of the materials are in the receptacles and then to initiate simultaneous discharge of the weighed materials in the receptacles to hoppers 38 and 55 which supply a mixer 40, the receptacles 1 and 28 rotated to discharge their loads and the receptacle 41 being provided with an automatically controlled valve 52 which is opened for discharge purposes. The receptacles 1 and 28 each comprise three compartments e.g. 2a, 2b, 2c defined by two end walls 4 and by three walls 3 which radially extend from the axis of rotation of the receptacle, one of the compartments of each receptacle being fed in each weigh cycle of the apparatus, the receptacles 1, 28 each being allowed by a pawl and ratchet mechanism and on the release of a pneumatically controlled brake 21 to rotate at the end of a weigh cycle through 120 degrees and to present an adjacent compartment to a position at which it can be fed in a successive weigh cycle. The receptacle 1 is fed from a continuously rotating belt 6 which is supplied with a first material from a cyclone 5, cut-off of the feed of this material to the receptacle being effected by a pneumatically controlled, pivotally mounted scoop 7. A second material is fed to the receptacle 28 by a chain conveyer 33 and a screw conveyer 34 and feed is cut-off suitably by a pneumatically operated slide 35. The receptacle 41 is supplied with a liquid material whose feed is cut-off by a pneumatically controlled valve 45. A valve 56 at the base of the hopper 55 and a screw conveyer at the base of the hopper 38 are arranged to supply the weighed materials to the mixer 40 at a rate that will ensure a constant supply during a weighing period comprising several weigh cycles. The photo-electric devices and switches on the receptacles 1, 28 are arranged in a circuit which controls pneumatic devices, the pneumatic devices being arranged to control feed of the various materials to the receptacles and to effect discharge of the materials.
