Abstract

1,155,213. Halogenated sulphenamides. MONSANTO CO. 27 May, 1966 [27 May, 1965], No. 23823/66. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of formula R-S-NH-CO-NH-S-R<SP>1</SP> wherein R and R<SP>1</SP> are each aryl, haloaryl, arylalkyl, alkylaryl, alkyl or cycloalkyl are prepared by reacting urea with RSCl and R<SP>1</SP>SCl in the presence of a tertiary amine. N,N<SP>1</SP>-di-(phenylthio) urea is made by reacting benzene sulphenyl chloride with urea in the presence of triethylamine. The compounds are vulcanization inhibitors for rubber.
