Abstract

115,511. Bourke, A. M. May 23, 1917. Moulds for building. -Ships are constructed within mould-frames or formers, the sections of which are variously attachable together so as to provide for ships of different sizes and shapes. Each frame comprises a. base or keel member a consisting of an outer part a<2> and an inner part a' adjustably secured by bolts in alternative holes. Side members b rising therefrom each consist of three main parts b<1>, b<2>, b<3> adjustably bolted to each other and to the base a<2>. The required curve or inclination of the side b is given and secured by means of stays c, d each formed adjustably of two parts bolted together, as shown. Each frame of a section is rigidly joined to the next adjacent frame by cross-braces f secured by bolts f<1>, f<2>. A mould section comprising several frames may be retained in assembled forms as a unit adjustable as a whole. The frames may be mounted on wheels to enable them to be run readily into position for use.
