A fuel can which may contain a flux detector is provided with a sealed releasable end closure. Fig. 1 shows a soft-metal can 1 closed by a hardmetal plug 4 having an annular knife edge 6 which bites into the can end 2 by a clamping nut 7 having screw threads 8a. Lateral creeping of the metal at the knife-edge joint is prevented by supporting the metal by inner and outer cylindrical surfaces formed respectively on the plug 4 and nut 7. The plug is removed, after removal of the nut, by screwing a member into the hole 17. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, in which the can 11 is of hard metal, a soft-metal ring 22 is supported by an annular knife edge 13 formed on a hard-metal bush 18 secured to the can. The plug 4 with knife edge 6 is clamped by nut 24. As in Fig. 1 lateral creep is prevented by inner and outer cylindrical surfaces surrounding the ring 22.
