[Also in Division C3] A metal-casting sand composition comprises silica sand and, based on the weight of sand, approx. 10% cement, 0À0001-2À0% dispersing agent, and 0À1-5À0% metallic salt capable of promoting the hardening of the cement. The dispersing agent is polyethylene glycol or ester thereof, an alkyl benzene sulphonate, polyacryl sulphonate, or an alkyl amine acetate. The metallic salt may be a chloride of Al, Ca, Fe and/or Mg. The composition may also comprise graphite.
