Abstract

The invention relates to a casting powder for continuous casting and ingot casting in order to obtain improved surfaces, the reaction of the metallic aluminium with the silica being avoided in the case of this casting powder. The casting powder consists of 20 to 60% of Al2O3, 20 to 60% of CaO, 0 to 15% of SiO2, O to 20% of gassing agents and up to 30% of SiO2-free fluxes with an Al2O3/CaO weight ratio of 3-0.33.
