1,153,224. Continuous casting-machines. URALSKY ZAVOD TYAZHELOGO MASHINOSTROENIA IMENI S. ORDZHONIKIKIDZE. 18 Jan., 1967 [15 March, 1966], No. 2676/67. Heading B3F. The secondary cooling system of a continuous casting apparatus comprises a plurality of bars 1 having surfaces 3 juxtaposed around a cast strand 5 and a plurality of detachable planks 2 interposed between the surfaces 3 and strand 5, said planks having channels 4 for the passage of a coolant liquid. The surface of the planks adjacent the strand 5 may be corrugated so as to decrease the speed of cooling. Alternate bars and corresponding planks are spaced from the strand 5 to decrease the rate of cooling thereof.
