Abstract

1,153,193. Colour couplers. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 3 May, 1966, No. 19500/66. Heading C2C. [Also in Division G2] Compounds of the formulµ wherein R represents an alkoxy, cycloalkoxy, amide or sulphonamide group, R<SP>1</SP> represents H, a C 1-22 alkyl, a cycloalkyl or an aryl group, and either each of R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> is H, halogen, C 1-22 alkyl or a group as defined for R, or R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> together are the atoms which complete a 5- or 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> not completing a naphthalene nucleus in Formula I when R<SP>1</SP> is H, each of the groups R, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> possibly being substituted, or the salts thereof, are obtained from the corresponding compound having an aldehyde group in the para position to the phenolic OH group by reaction with an amine R<SP>1</SP>NH 2 and reduction of the resulting imine. Examples are given.
