Abstract

1368707 Pressure-sensitive recording systems MONSANTO CO 11 Aug 1972 [12 Aug 1971] 37600/72 Heading D2B In pressure-sensitive recording systems wherein color is formed by reaction between a substantially colourless chromogenic compound and a colour developing compound, the reaction is effected in the presence of a solvent comprising an alkyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon having the formula: wherein R is a linear C 2-11 alkyl radical and R' is H or a linear C 1-6 alkyl radical, provided that the total number of C atoms in R and R' is from 2-11, and Ar is a phenyl, biphenylyl or naphthyl radical optionally substituted by a methyl radical. The pressure sensitive recording system may be a single or two sheet system. The solvent may be used with one or more other solvents or diluents. Numerous conventional chromogenic compounds and sensitising agents which may be used are listed. The chromogenic compounds may be dissolved in the solvent and encapsulated.
