Abstract
1,153,077. Recovering waste oil. OSTERREICHISCHE MINERALOLVERWALTUNG A.G. and J. O. G. MINERALOL RAFFINERIE LUDWIG ZERZOG K.G. 29 Nov., 1966, No. 53387/66. Heading C5E. A process for purifying contaminated waste oil comprises the steps of heating the oil with an alkaline earth metal hydroxide and simultaneously or subsequently vacuum-distilling it. Up to 50% of the hydroxide may be replaced by alkali metal hydroxide or carbonate. The oil may be further treated with sulphuric acid, lime and fuller's earth, or hydrogenation or one of those following solvent extraction with sulphur dioxide or furfural; or with sulphuric acid and calcareous earth. In an example, an oil is vacuum-distilled over calcium hydroxide.
