Abstract

1,152,759. Pipe joints. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. 29 Nov., 1967, No. 54372/67. Heading F2G. A pipe coupling comprises inner and outer end portions 2, 3 having at least one convex part-spherical contacting surface 6 and surrounded by a sleeve 10 secured to one of the pipe end portions, the other pipe end portion having a radially movable washer 17 between a shoulder 20 and an abutment 14 formed or provided internally of the sleeve, the abutment and washer each having convex part-spherical surfaces thereby permitting misalignment of the pipe end portions. Abutment 14 is a thrust wire received in an internal recess. Sleeve 10 is screw-threaded to end portion 3. In modifications surface 5 is a convex part-spherical surface and washer 17 is a two-piece construction.
