Abstract

1,152,688. Stand for X-ray image intensifier. SIEMENS - REINIGER - WERKE A.G. 17 Aug., 1966 [20 Aug., 1965], No. 36928/66. Heading H5R. An X-ray image intensifier is supported on a stand comprising an upright carrier supported from the floor, a bearing block forming a head portion of said carrier, and connecting means joining the housing of the image intensifier to the bearing block such that the intensifier is able to rotate about a horizontal axis from a position where its front surface 2 comprising the input fluorescent screen 3 is horizontal (shown in dashed line) to a position where its front surface is vertical (in full line), said connecting means being arranged to engage the housing near a lateral edge of the front surface such that the X-ray image intensifier supported by the stand can adopt a position so that it projects at one side of the carrier, the stand further comprising a device, e.g. counterpoise system 20, to provide weight compensation for the intensifier when it is disposed in the sideways projecting position. Preferably the stand comprises a pair of telescopic columns 6, 8; 7, 9; each provided with a bearing block and adapted to be vertically adjustable and locked at a desired height, e.g. by clamp 10. The telescopic parts of the support may interact by means of compression springs 11 and 11<SP>1</SP>. The bearing 12 and 13 may be connected to the casing of the intensifier by rod 14 and webs 15 and 16, and the weight compensating device 20 is preferably spring-operated having a lever 23 fastened to the rod, the motion being controlled by a spring 26 operating on a piston 25 working in a cylinder 25. The uprights 6 and 7 may be supported on a base 4 having castors 5, the uprights being to one side of the stand which is overhung by the intensifier as it is supported.
