[Also in Divisions G2, H1 and H4] Electrostatographic recording is effected using a recording material comprising a photoconductive layer and a dielectric layer by uniformly exposing the photoconductive layer, applying an electrostatic pattern to the dielectric layer using a pattern of charged needles while maintaining the photo-conductive layer at a reference potential, developing and fixing. The recording material may comprise a support or a photoconductive or dielectric layer acting as a support, and may be uniformly exposed before or during application of the electrostatic pattern.
