Abstract

1,152,204. Combine harvesters. TEXAS INDUSTRIES Inc. 27 July, 1966 [9 Aug., 1965; 27 Oct., 1965], No. 33839/66. Heading A1F. The harvester comprises a pivotally supported header formed in two parts each with a cutter bar 7 and a reel 11 one of which is driven by a hydraulic motor 62 through a reduction gearing 60, 59. Each reel is supported on telescopic arms 14, 14A which are extensible by ram 21 moving the sliding part 17 of arm 14, this part being attached at 30 to a chain 22 which turns, by sprockets 23, another chain 22 connected to the sliding part 18 of the support arm 14A. The second reel is driven from the first reel by a crank 66 engaging a stop 67. Tined bars 38 are supported by arms 36 on the reel shaft 31 and are fastened by links 49 to arms 46 secured to an eccentrically mounted ring 45 running on rollers 44 which can be moved by lever 51 to alter the movement of the tines 41. Rams 69 pivot the separate parts of the header and are hydraulically controlled so that the two parts of the header can bear on the ground at different pressures which are indicated by a pressure gauge near the driver's seat. In an embodiment the reel is located entirely in front of the cutter bar and a stop determines the lowermost position of the reel.
