Abstract
1,152,187. Lubricating. BERGMANN-BORSIG VEB. 20 May, 1966, No. 22473/66. Heading F2A. A lubricating oil-supply apparatus for a steam turbine or turbine unit has a separate main lubricating oil-pump 8, Fig. 1, an auxiliary oil pump 10; a regulator oil-pump 6; and a continuously operating safety oil-pump 20, the latter being connected by a suction conduit 21 to a main lubricating discharge pipe 18 which is constructed as an oil storage unit in order to ensure a necessary supply of emergency oil for the pump 20 should both main and auxiliary pumps 8 and 10 fail. The circuit for the pump 20 includes, in addition to the suction conduit 21, a filter 23, a pipe 25 and the existing main lubricating circuit feed and discharge pipes 15 and 18. The feed-pipe 15 is connected to the main and reserve oil-pumps 8 and 10 via a filter 12, a cooler 13 and a non- return valve 14; and the discharge pipe 18 is connected to a main oil-container 19 by a pipe 22. The feed-pipe 15 is connected to bearings 17 by branch pipes 16. The main, auxiliary and regulator oil-pumps 8, 10 and 6 are driven by electric motors and the oilpump 20 is directly driven by a turbine shaft 4. In a modification, the oil-pump 20, Fig. 2, is provided with an oil-pressure pipe 28 which leads, via branch-pipes 29 and restrictors 30 to the bearings 17. A filter 26 is provided between the main discharge pipe 18 and the pump 20 and a non- return valve 27 is provided between the pump 20 and the emergency pipe 28. The pump 20 may also be connected to the main feed pipe 15 by a conduit 34. In another modification, the oil pump 20, Fig. 3, is connected via a conduit 34, a filter 26 and conduits 37, 36 to the main feed pipe 15. The conduit 36 also connects to the main discharge pipe 18 via a one-way valve 35. Manually operated valves and shut-off devices may be provided.
