Abstract

1,151,795. Moulding concrete. BANBUKY BUILDINGS HOLDINGS Ltd. 24 July, 1967 [29 July, 1966], No. 34061/66. Heading B5A. In a method of forming a hole in a concrete block 24 while the block is being press-formed in a mould 10 provided with at least one outlet in its base for excess water to be expressed whilst the mix is being compressed by a presshead 11, a pin 14 in the head is caused suddenly to penetrate the mix just as the head contacts it and before applying moulding pressure thereto, and the pin is suddenly withdrawn immediately the moulding pressure is relieved just before the head is raised. The pin is operated by a pneumatic motor 18, 19. The mould includes a lining 10a and an insert 12 with a patterned surface 12a. The moulded block may be withdrawn from the mould by a vacuum lifting method employing a suction duct in the head.
