Abstract

1,151,211. Image projection apparatus. W. C. MARKHAM. May 2, 1966 [Feb. 2, 1965], No.4416/65. Headings G2A and G2H. Optical projection apparatus comprises means defining object and image planes and a scanning assembly which upon movement projects successive elemental areas of an object at the object plane on to an image receiving medium held stationary at the image plane to form a complete image of the object on the medium. In one form of scanning assembly 3, mirrors 5, 6, Fig. 2, are arranged between ducts 9, 10 opposite a lens 7 backed by a plane mirror 8. The scanning assembly 3 is driven by endless motor driven cables (38, Fig. 10, not shown) along a path between a glass platen 1 Fig. 1 and the photo-sensitive medium (not shown). The object may be illuminated by a quartz iodine lamp Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown) stationary or moved with the scanning assembly. The assembly 3 may carry a corona discharge device, e.g. a spiked roller for laying down a sensitizing charge, apparatus for developing a latent image photographically or electro-photographically, or a device for fixing developed image. The scanning assembly may oscillate along an arcuate path to produce reduced or magnified images Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown).
