Abstract

1326973 Information retrieval apparatus AUDAC CORP 7 June 1971 [8 June 1970] 19279/71 Headings G2A and G2H Apparatus for imaging a document 18 on to a frame 32a of a light transmitting storage medium, e.g. a xerographic microfiche 32, includes a light source 24, a mirror 28 and a xerographic assembly 14 containing a lens system (114), Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) on the axis of which the frame 32a is positioned. Before exposure the frame is charged utilizing electrodes (142, 147); then a shutter (172) is retracted and the exposure made; the shutter (172) returns to its initial position and toner is applied to the frame 32a; then hot air is passed across the frame 32a; thus permanent by developing the image on the frame; and finally a lamp (122) is turned on so that the operator can view the printed frame, all these steps taking place with the frame 32a in the same position relative to the lens axis. The microfiche 32 is carried by a holding assembly 12 adjustable so that any frame of the microfile can be positioned on the lens axis. If a full-signed copy of a microfiche frame is to be made, a projection lamp assembly 34 is swung over assembly 12, and light from the frame is focused on a platen 22. A copying assembly 44, provided beneath the platen 22, produces a copy 45 of the frame. A white surface may be positioned below the platen 22 for viewing purposes, or the mirror 28 may be hinged so that an image of the frame is formed on a screen 50 and is visible through a window 51. These operations follow automatically an operation of the appropriate button 17a-d.
