Abstract

1,150,825. Control of motors. STOP-MOTION DEVICES CORP. 5 July, 1967 [11 May, 1967], No. 31033/67. Heading H2J. [Also in Division D1] Depression of an inching-button 14 energizes solenoid 46 which closes contacts 48, 50, for activating the drive for a knitting machine. As the machine rotates, generator G provides an increasing voltage until transistor 110 is rendered non-conductive to de-energize solenoid 116 and open contacts 120, 122, in series with the solenoid 46. The generator G is shunted by a resistor 106 across which is developed a voltage, dependent upon the setting of voltage divider 90, and in opposition to the generator voltage. Adjustment of slider 100 therefore determines the amount of movement of the knitting machine resulting from actuation of the button 14. If the push-button is retained in the depressed condition, no successive movements of the machine are caused since solenoid 116 is short-circuited. If additional inching movement is required it is necessary first to release the inching - button. Continuous operation of the machine may be initiated by actuating starting-button 10 which energizes solenoid 46 as well as a holding relay 54. The drive motor is stopped by actuating pushbutton 16 or by activating a stop motion to energize solenoid 20. Actuation of a jog-button 12 energizes the solenoid 46 for the period that the button is depressed since there is no holding- circuit. Diode 74 prevents energization of the relay 54 under these circumstances.
