Abstract

1,150,742. Waste receptacle. CHAMBON Ltd. 24 June, 1966 [2 July, 1965; 25 Jan., 1966], Nos. 28095/65 and 3276/66. Heading A4A. [Also in Division B8] A waste receptacle in the form of a bag of flexible material, such as paper, comprises two opposed walls 10 and 11, joined along their side and bottom edges 12, 13 and 14, so as to form an open top 15 and a mouth-forming member in the form of a strip of cardboard 16, secured within the bag, to which two arms 17 and 18 are hinged by creasing, the arms being capable of being swung away from the strip 16 into the position shown in Fig. 1, so as to form an open mouth for the bag. The bag may be mounted on a suitable surface by means of an adhesive strip 19 which can be initially covered and when full the bag may be disposed of together with its contents. An alternative arrangement has the arms 17 and 18 hinged together as one arm, and only the arm 17 hinged to the member 16. In Fig. 3 the mouth-forming member is in the form of a strip of cardboard 106 to which two arms 107 and 108 are hinged by creasing, these arms each having a projecting tongue 109 and 110 which engages in a slit 111 and 112 in the opposite wall 100 so as to keep the mouth of the bag open. In Fig. 4 the arms 107 and 108 are centrally hinged by creasing at 120 and 121 to enable them to fold inwardly when the bag lies flat. In either case provision is made for apertures 113 and 114 in the side panels 100 and 101, into which the fingers of a hand can be inserted to enable the bag to be carried, and also for a lid formed as an extension of the mouth-forming member, being hinged to the strip 106, or formed integrally with the material of the bag. The receptacle may be provided with a disposable waterproof liner to fit inside it.
