Abstract

Heading A5R, .[Also in Division G2] A device (Figure 7) for use with an endoscope of the type (Figure 1) comprising a tube 1 provided with an instrument support arm 4 and containing a lilght-transmitting stem (2), includes a clamp 7, 8 by which the device may be removably secured to the support ama, a connector 16 for releasably securing the device to one end of a light-transmitting member 6, and a reflecting surface arranged (when the device is clamped on the arm) to lie at 45‹ to the axis of the light stem and to reflect light from the light-transmitting member 6 through 90‹ on to the light-transmitting stem. A bronchoscope, tracheoscope, &c. may comprise a tube 1 having an inner channel 3 in which is removably fitted the glass-fibre-filled light-transmitting stem (2) having a pin (5) which fits into a hole in the instrument support arm 4. The reflecting surface may be formed in a prism 10 mounted in a housing 14 on the device and the clamp may comprise a square-sectioned sleeve 7 which fits around the support arm 4 and which may be secured with a screw 8. The connector 16 may comprise a threaded sleeve to receive the end of the light-transmitting cable 6.
