Abstract

[Also in Divisions B3 and B6] Apparatus for injection moulding identification rings for pigeons includes means for automatically advancing an indicia-producing part of the mould by one step each time the mould is opened or closed. The rings may be made of material such as polythene and the indicia may be raised or recessed figures and/or letters. In an example, two mould halves 6a, (6b) are moved by pneumatic cylinders (8) to close around an axially reciprocable core 12 which seats on a stationary part 15 when the mould is closed. Each mould half 6a, (6b) carries four rotatable discs 9a<SP>1</SP>, 9a<SP>11</SP> and 9b<SP>1</SP> respectively. Each disc carries ten letter- or number-forming portions 10a, 10b (only six are shown in the example). Each portion 10a or 10b forms an arcuate peripheral portion of the mould. Grooves 14, 141 in the core 12 and part 15 form upper and lower beads on the ring. Ground surfaces 16 on the rotatable mould discs prevent escape of material from the mould.
