Abstract

1,140,384. Moulding hollow articles. L. E. BARNETT. 14 June, 1966, No. 26541/66. Heading B5A. A method of forming a hollow container having two layers of different colours comprises rotating and heating a container 10 until a first charge of thermosetting or thermoplastic material has gelled on the inner surface thereof and then releasing a second charge from a container 40 while still rotating and heating the container 10. The second charge is applied when a bimetallic strip 60 releases two hemispherical parts 42, 44 which are urged open by a spring 50. The opening of the container 40 may be time controlled, and the halves thereof may be released hydraulically or pneumatically. Also the container can be opened sufficiently to allow a measured charge of the second material to be released. The two charges may be of different compositions as well as of different colours.
