Abstract

1,149,514. Colour couplers. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. 10 Oct., 1966 [12 Oct., 1965], No. 45130/66. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C4 and G2] The invention comprises coupler compounds of the formula wherein Q represents a residual group of a phenol, a naphthol, a pyrazolone, an acylacetanilide or an indazoline compound. In the examples specific compounds of the above formula are prepared by condensing the appropriate amino derivative with 2,4-di-secondaryamylphenoxyacetyl chloride. Other compounds may be prepared by analogous methods. They are useful as colour couplers in photographic materials. 2,4 - Di - secondary - amyl - phenoxyacetyl chloride is obtained by reacting the sodio derivative of 2,4-di-secondary-amyl-phenol with ethylchloroacetate to give ethyl-2,4-di-secondaryamyl-phenoxy acetate, hydrolysing to give 2,4-disecondary-amyl phenoxy acetic acid and reacting this acid with thionyl chloride.
