Abstract
1,149,077. Ignition systems. HORSTMANN GEAR CO. Ltd. Oct. 20, 1967 [Aug. 1, 1966], No. 34423/66. Heading F1B. [Also in Division H2] In a Piezo-electric spark generator of the sort in which a manually operated lever 36 compresses at least one crystal 13, 14 between a plunger 21 and an anvil 22 about which the unit pivots, the anvil slides freely in the insulating retaining tube 11 and this is provided with a cross-bore 18 through which the output lead 17 passes freely so that the tube may float freely. The pressure is equalized by resilient, conducting pads 19, 20. As shown, the operating lever 36 has a notch engaging the rounded nose 23 of the pressure plunger and situated at one side of the pivot 35. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown) the notch moves to and fro across the dead-centre axis as the lever is operated. The generator may be enclosed in a housing with a spark-gap at one end for portable ignition of gas. A single Piezoelectric element may be employed instead of two.
