Abstract

1,148,947. Tunnels &c. COMMERCIAL SHEARING & STAMPING CO. 17 Oct., 1966 [12 Nov., 1965], No. 46385/66. Heading E1F. An arcuate tunnel liner plate has flanges 11, 12 on all four sides and a layer 13 of foamed elastomer on the outer face of each flange. The flanges consist of channel members fixed to an arcuate plate 10 and provided with spaced holes 15 to receive bolts for fixing adjacent liner plates together. Washers on the bolts have elastomer sealing surfaces so that when secured in place, the liner is waterproof. Strengthening members 18 may be welded between flanges 11 to take the thrust of jacks moving the excavating head.
