Heading C2C. 3,4<SP>1</SP>,5-Tribromosalicylanilide is prepared by brominating salicylanilide with bromine, preferably at a temperature of 60‹ to 100‹ C., in a reaction medium of one or more brominated hydrocarbons. 2<SP>1</SP>,3,4<SP>1</SP>,5-Tetrabromosalicylanilide is obtained by using an excess of bromine.
