Abstract
1,148,453. Steroids. TAKEDA CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 9 May, 1966 [8 May, 1965; 9 June, 1965], No. 20483/66. Heading C2U. 21-Phosphates of steroid compounds having a 20-ketopregnane skeleton are obtained in a process in which a 21-hydroxy steroid is allowed to react with pyrophosphoryl tetrachloride, the reaction mixture is subjected to hydrolysis, and the desired compound is recovered from the reaction mixture. The reaction may be effected in a solvent, e.g. tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, pyridine, acetonitrile, hydrocarbons or phenols at room temperature or with cooling. The products may be recovered by adsorption on active charcoal followed by extraction.
