A sweetening product comprises a major portion of lactose with the balance an artificial sweetener comprising one or more cyclamates (e.g. calcium cyclamate) and optionally saccharin or a saccharin salt (e.g. calcium saccharin), the product having a bulk density of 0.10-0.40 g/ml, being substantially free of α-lactose monohydrate and stabilized. The composition may be prepared by dissolving lactose and the artificial sweetener in water, injecting carbon dioxide or nitrogen into the solution, spray drying the solution, treating the product with a water-soluble alcohol (e.g. methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol) or acetone (e.g. in vapour form) and drying
