Abstract

1,147,973. Cam-operated switches. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 27 Sept., 1966 [30 Sept., 1965], No. 41638/65. Heading H1N. A cam operated switch has permanent magnet inserts 18, Fig. 1, in the region of the contacts and arranged so that the arc is blown laterally towards arc-quenching blocks 19. The arrangement is applied to a pair of bridging contacts 12 actuated by cam and followers 16, 17 acting against springs 13, the arcs being blown in opposite directions towards a pair of opposed blocks 19. Suitable material for the blocks 19 is hot-moulded mineral-filled glassreinforced polyester resin.
