[Also in Division G2] Condensation polymers comprise a cyclic phosphonitrile trimer or tetramer derivative in which at least one of the phosphorus atoms is attached to a terminally blocked poly-oxyalkylene chain, or in which the phosphonitrile trimer or tetramer nuclei are linked together through phosphorus atoms by a bivalent oxyalkylene radical. In preparations, phosphonitrile dichloride trimer is reacted at room temperature with (1) monomethoxy-polyethylene glycol (mol. wt. 750), (2) a condensation product of ethylene oxide (20 moles) and cetyl alcohol (1 mole), (3)a mixed condensation product of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide (mol. wt. 1100), (4) polyethylene glycol (mol. wt. 1000) and (5) polyethylene glycol (mol. wt. 2000). In a further preparation (6), phosphonitrile tetramer is reacted with polyethylene glycol (mol. wt. 1000).
