Abstract

1,147,662. Reactive current converters. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGSG.m.b.H. 29 April, 1966 [6 May, 1965], No. 18848/66. Heading H2F. An inverter WR having forced commutation provided by block St and having a reactive impedance Co connected across its D.C. side, is connected in series with a polyphase supply A and a load network U so as to compensate for the reactive current of the load D. The inverter WR may also provide active power in a voltage regulating system if a battery B, e.g. of fuel cells, is switched on to the D.C. side. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the inverter WR is connected to star-connected windings of a transformer in series with a supply A. Fig. 4 (not shown) relates to the inverter WR connected as a starpoint of a three-phase induction motor. Protecting inverters.-Short circuit protection is provided by thyristors T connected across the A.C. or D.C. side of inverter WR.
