1,147,554. Oxidizing polyalkylaromatic compounds. PRINCETON CHEMICAL RESEARCH Inc. 27 Jan., 1967 [1 June, 1966], No. 4267/67. Heading C2C. In a process for making aromatic carboxylic acids or anhydrides by the vapour phase catalytic oxidation of an aromatic compound having at least 3 alkyl substituents, part of the tail gas is recycled to the oxidation zone. Examples describe the production of pyromellitic dianhydride from diverne.
