Abstract

1,147,483. Laminates. MONSANTO CO. 8 Aug., 1967 [9 Aug., 1966], No. 36412/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Division C3] Sound damping laminates comprise a foamed thermoplastic material having 0À1 to 30 per cent of the internal cell structure thickness altered in shape characteristics, e.g. by partial compression, and a facing material laminated to at least one face thereof by heat or adhesive lamination. The facing material may be jute, kraft or chipboard liner board, plastic sheet, linen or a reticulated material. The thermoplastic material may be a styrene polymer or a rubber blend or graft polymer thereof; a polymer or chlorinated or sulphochlorinated polymer of an olefin, halogenated olefin, vinyl acetate, acrylic or methacrylic ester, or acrylonitrile; an acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene terpolymer; or a cellulose ester or ether. In examples juts linear boards are heat laminated to both sides of partially compressed polystyrene foam sheets.
