Abstract
1,236,156. Vehicle panels. A. STANKIEWICZ, [trading as DR. ALOIS STANKIEWICZ CHEMISCHE ERZEUGNISSE], 8 Aug., 1969 [7 May; 1969], No. 39908/69. Heading B7J. [Also in Division C3] Motor vehicle walls may be insulated against sound by fixing thereto a sheet of polyurethane foam loaded with at least 60% of a filler based on the total weight of the structure and which has a weight per unit of surface area of the sheet of at least 4 kg./m.<SP>2</SP> (see Division C3). The foam sheet may be shaped so as to coincide in all its contours with the vehicle wall and may be fixed at a certain interval in front of the wall using spacers, e.g. of rubber, felt, foam rubber, wood, iron or hard rubber or plastics. The spacers may be set into the sheet obtained on foaming or the material of the sheet may be used as spacers by forming the sheet in a mould provided with recesses. Adhesive bonding to the vehicle walls may also be used. Holes for cables, levers and rods may be formed in the sheet either during or after foam formation. These holes are usually sealed with plastics or rubber sleeves.
