Abstract

1,147,429. Valves. C. A. PARSONS & CO. Ltd. 6 Oct., 1967 [12 Oct., 1966], No. 45623/66. Heading F2V. A steam valve has a pair of independently actuated, oppositely moving, closure members 2, 3 adapted to close opposite ends of a diffuser 4a located between inlet 7 and outlet 8. Member 2 co-operates with a seat 4 and member 3 has two closures 3a, 3b co-operating respectively with seats 5a, 5b in a cylindrical member 5 attached to the diffuser by means of a flexible seal 6. Bore 3c provides pressure equalization on both sides of the closure member 3 to facilitate its movement under operating conditions. The valve is used for conveying reheated steam to a low pressure stage of a steam turbine, and the closure members are operated respectively by over-speed and emergency trip devices (not shown) controlling relays.
