Brick panels are manufactured by arranging the bricks on a horizontal bed being part of a mould, clamping the bricks to hold them in position, filling the spaces in between with mortar and raising the bed to a vertical or inclined position after setting and removal of clamping pressure. The mould 11, Fig. 1, may comprise the bed 12 on a table of reinforced concrete, the bed 12 being pivoted at 13 to the table and a frame assembly of channel section girders 21, 22, secured to bed 12 by swing bolts (23, Fig. 2, not shown). The bricks 14 are located by structure 15 comprising primary guide elements 60 to determine the rows of bricks and secondary guide elements 62 interfitting with the primary elements to determine the brick positions relative to the mould 11 rather than to adjacent bricks. The clamping assembly 16 comprises cross members 71, 72 and members 73 supporting damping pads 74 bearing resilient material. Bed 12 is also covered with resilient material but harder than that on the pads so that any irregularities occur in the upper surface of the panel. Reinforcing members may be inserted in the mould, which may be vibrated while being filled with mortar e.g. by units 90, 91 causing vibrations in both horizontal and vertical planes. Arms (17, Fig. 3, not shown) pivoted to the bed 12 and carrying a ratchet pin (42) engage in racks (18) to support the bed in the inclined or vertical position.
